About Us

The Rockingham County Business & Technology Center (RCBTC) partnered with Rockingham County Cooperative Extension for a $24,000 grant that funded this certified community kitchen for local farmers, caterers and training chefs. This grant was one of several 2006 Demonstration Grants distributed by Rural Advancement Foundation International-USA with the support of the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission. These grants are slated to help transition tobacco farmers into other crops so that rural areas can maintain their farming heritage.

We have now partnered with Eden United Methodist Church, located in Madison, NC, to operate their certified commercial kitchen as part of Rockingham Community Kitchen. At the same time, we have rented our original kitchen 24/7, 365 days of the year to the Rockingham County jail. Once their lease has expired, which is expected in fall 2010, we hope to have 2 locations of the Rockingham Community Kitchen. Until then, all reservations will be for our kitchen located at Eden United Methodist Church.
